born 1981
Italian Filmmaker and Video Artist. He
studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, London
University (2005-08), and
he is currently attending his Master of Fine Arts, specialising in Film
Directing, at EICAR, The International Film School of Paris. After
experimentation with photography, installation art and performance art,
Ceccherini turned to film and video. Treasured Objects is a single video projection
concerning with the significance of objecthood as something placed before the
eyes, a physical endorsement and a memorable | | moment of alimenting the becoming of something. Operating as a visual symbolic interpretation, opening the
possibility to rethink about the process of reaching a material value,
Treasured Objects has significantly been inspired by Emily Dickinson poems: “I cannot want it anymore” and “What’s better, the crescent or
the moon”. These two poems offers an insight of
the autonomous individual consciousness as a place to produce the act of
possessing. Riccardo Ceccherini is interested in the individual desire to reach
a material value and identifies this as an artistic field to explore.
Ceccherini is at the present working on
the pre-production of his short Film, “The Lucky Charm”, which will be screened
at the Cinémathèque Française next October 2010.
